Jameelah Hicks is the powerhouse behind FRSH Start a woman who turned every lesson, every hustle, and every setback into a blueprint for the next generation.
Before launching FRSH Start, Jameelah lived a life full of movement — literally! A professional dancer for celebrities and D-league cheer teams, she balanced her dance career with full-time work, college classes, and a vision for something greater. She went on to open her own dance studio for inner-city youth, creating a space for kids to feel safe, express themselves, and be seen. That studio was just the beginning.
Jameelah earned her Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology, later advancing her career in the healthcare space and earning a Master’s in Industrial/Organizational Psychology. She now serves as a Director of Compliance, runs her own consulting company, and continues to champion young people every step of the way.
But titles aside, Jameelah’s greatest work has always been in her community. From organizing annual prom giveaways including $500 sponsorships, resume makeovers, and college recommendation letters to being the mentor she never had, she’s made it her mission to fill the gaps most young people face alone.
Her belief?

FRSH Start isn’t just a program it’s her purpose. It’s where passion meets preparation. And it’s here to help the next generation win in life, in skill, and in self-worth.

FRSH Start Career Source is a hands-on career prep and life skills hub for youth 18 and under. Whether it’s learning to change oil in a real shop setting, mastering salon techniques, or diving into barbering and nail design, students are gaining more than a skill they’re gaining confidence, decision-making power, and a sense of purpose.

That’s the question we ask every parent. We believe kids should be able to choose their path, explore their interests, and understand the responsibility that comes with their decisions all in a safe, structured, and exciting environment.
From automotive and hair braiding to barbering and nail tech, FRSH Start programs are designed to be immersive, fun, and purpose-driven. Students receive one-on-one attention, real-time feedback, and the chance to complete projects that may even earn them money. They’ll leave with certificates of completion, real skills, and a new sense of pride.
Our goal?
To become a community staple like the YMCA — a place kids want to be, parents trust, and futures are formed. We’re not a last resort. We’re the first step toward something great
